1953, Youri Glinksi, a Red Army General and top brain surgeon in a Moscow hospital, is forced on the run when a KGB plot leads to his arrest. He is soon caught and sent to gulag where he's tortured, but when Stalin lies on his deathbed, Glinski is released by the head of KGB who calls for his immense medical knowledge.
